3M purchased the patent rights to the LeadCheck product in 2010. Let me say that again: PATENT RIGHTS. This meant that someone had contrived to prohibit anyone else from selling LeadCheck's other than them.

For 25 years, the price of LeadCheck was about $5 per test.
